Inspired by ancient Roman home altars, the sacellum was a small sacred shrine placed within the household, a space of devotion, protection, and quiet daily ritual. In Roman homes, such altars were dedicated to the Lares and Penates — guardian spirits of the family and hearth — symbolizing continuity, gratitude, and reverence for tradition.
